DAY 3 OF 21 DAYS FASTING & PRAYERS PROGRAM

Wednesday, 8th January, 2020
=====================
Topic: The Deception of Success, Rev Ramson A. Darteh
======================
Reference:  Acts 13:1-2
‘Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, ...and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.’

The five people mentioned above were successful as Prophets and Teachers. They were the leaders of the Antioch church which was doing very well. As a matter of fact, they raised such an exemplary bunch of believers that the people of the city called  them Christians- for the very first time in scriptures.

‘Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Acts 11:25-26

They were at the very top of their ministries, yet found time to wait on the Lord in fasting and prayers. The reverse is the case with most Pastors and believers. Most Pastors and believers alike are so satisfied with little. A little success in ministry and in life, and we have this misguided conception that fasting and prayers are for those ‘with nothing or very little to do.’
But as Dag Heward - Mills succinctly put it No one is too blessed or secured not to pray.’

In the parable of the sower, Jesus warned us about the deception of success,

‘He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.’ Mathew 13: 22

In essence , success in whatever field of endeavor must rather humble us, and compel us to put our trust and confidence in Him; for life minus Christ can only end in crisis.

Start the year right, by getting your spirit right. Join us in our twenty one days of waiting on the Lord in fasting and prayers, and you would certainly be empowered to exercise dominion this year  in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen,

*Right Word: By Rev. Ramson Asante Darteh* Thursday, 6thJune, 2019 *TOPIC: TAKING IT BY FORCE* *Reference*:Mathew 11:22 "...And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force..." Life, it must be understood, does not give you what you beg for, but rather what you fight for. George Foreman, the renown boxer, asserted that ‘champions are not made in the ring, they are only recognized.’ In Acts 12, we read the account of how Herod decided to deal ruthlessly with the Church. He initially cut off the head of James with the sword, and when he saw that it pleased the Jews ...he proceeded further to take Peter also...and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.’ Vs.3-4 When James was taken by Herod, the Church had hoped that God would intervene and save him. It never happened and he ended up dead. Lesson well learnt, they
