GUARDING A CONCRETE SLAB
Reference:1 Timothy 4:7
‘But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness’
The story is told of an army general, who observed a strange phenomenon when he took command of a military unit. There was this large concrete slab, which was regularly guided by four armed men.
After several enquiries failed to offer any tangible reason for this practice; which  had gone on for nearly eighty years, he decided to investigate it.
At the ilibrary, he came across a very interesting ‘revelation’ from an old manuscript.
This particular slab, in the process of it being laid for an event; was constantly being marred by wild animals. This went on for a while till four armed guards were dispatched to protect it for three weeks, to enable it solidify.
Unfortunately, the General who commissioned the project was transferred before the three weeks duration. The commander who took over from him, never questioned the routine, but faithfully continued  with it.
Thus it became a ‘tradition’ till this new Commander determined to investigate it  His sense of enquiry and curiosity brought many years of an institutionalized bankrupt tradition to an end; yet not before many years of wasted strength, time, energy and manpower.
We are a few weeks away from the end of the year, and it’s time to do an inward introspection and see what ‘concrete slab’ you may be guarding. It could be a hurt you have never gotten over; a spirit of unforgiveness  you may be harboring, a  ‘hollow’ religious ritual you may have observed faithfully,  a relationship that has gone bad, a failure you need to ‘grow’ over.
Seriously, it is time to do away with issues you have wasted time on without any tangible results. Time to question certain values, principles, belief systems, religious practices, attitude and habits you may have held sacrosanct  but have never had the boldness to question their relevance. It’s time to jettison ‘the old wives fables’ and prayerfully seek the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit for the course of your life for the coming year.
It must always be understood that ‘an examined life is not worth living.’ And like Socrates surmised, ‘Man, know thyself.’’. Shalom.

*ALL NATIONS CHRISTIAN CENTER* RIGHT WORD: REV. RAMSON A. DARTEH Saturday, 28th December 2019 ===================== #126: Topic: ‘Who Am I, O Lord? ====================== Reference: 2 Samuel 7:18 ‘Then went king David in, and sat before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord God ? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?’ King David was nearing the end of his reign, and the Lord sent Prophet Nathan to him with words of comfort and assurance concerning his son Solomon, and the future. ‘But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.’ 2 Samuel 8:15-17 David was so overwhelmed by God’s mercies and goodness towards him; that he went  in, sat before the Lord and asked Him a simple question, ‘...
