*HONORING THE MEMORY OF A MATRIARCH*
"...And Sarah died in Kirjath-arba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her..." GENESIS 23:3
Today’s write up will depart slightly from my normal messages of exhortation. For it is dedicated to honoring the memory of my mother, Mad. Mary Ama Ofosuaa, whose funeral rites holds over this weekend.
Death, as we are all aware, is a debt we owe. The late musical icon, Michael Jackson put it this way, "we start dying the moment we are born". Despite the certainty of death, it is often hard to take when it hits so close to home.
You looked so strong, vibrant and so full of life. In your ninety years sojourn on earth, l don’t recall ever visiting you at the hospital. At a point in time, l had this misguided belief that you would always be there!
It is often said that "...the passing away of an old woman in Africa, is tantamount to the burning down of a whole library..." indeed we have lost so much, for you were a fountain of knowledge, wisdom, love, kindness and compassion.
Like Abraham did for his wife Sarah, we shall mourn you, Mum. Your memory will be etched in our hearts forever. For you were a pillar on whom many rested. You loved unconditionally and gave to all.
We can’t help but to agree with Apostle Paul when he surmised that ‘ You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give you at that day: ..... . 2Timothy4:7-8a
We can’t wait to celebrate with you on that day. Fare thee well, Mum. Rest in perfect peace.
INVITATION*. You are invited to our TEACHING SERVICE this evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. You can’t afford to be anywhere else.
